About Internet Fax Machines

Unlike traditional fax machines, internet fax machines uses internet to receive and send faxes. Internet faxing or online faxing does not stick to phone networks alone, but also utilises the internet to send and receive faxes. With this latest technology, you could transfer documents at low cost and it facilitates flexibility is use. Internet faxing depends on the same principles of facsimile transmission, but instead of using the fax machine, it uses a web interface.

Advantages of internet faxing
As far as internet faxing is concerned, it is flexible and affordable. Besides these advantages, internet faxing does not require an additional telephone line for faxing. Since it is integrated with email, paperless communication is facilitated. Internet faxing paves way to multiple faxing, that is, you can send and receive several faxes at the same time. By internet faxing, phone costs are reduced significantly. Above all, it encourages you to send and receive faxes from any area, provided there is internet accessibility.

Reduced communication costs makes internet faxing, a relatively better option. The costs are considerably reduced when you send and receive faxes with overseas or distanced areas quiet often. The cost incurred for sending the fax is covered by the fixed line internet connection fee due to the absence of the telephone connection.

How does it work?
A fax number is assigned for every single person who subscribes for Internet fax services. Faxes could be sent to this particular fax number and through email, the customers could send fax even without the need of a fax machine.

Sending a fax through internet fax service is very simple. The sender uses an email message to attach the document, which could be a scan of the paper document or else, it could be created in Microsoft Word, which is a program. After this, the user should send the message to the recipient’s fax number which is followed by the name of the faxing machine. Then, the attachment is translated by the service, so that the fax machine could read the message. The data is then sent across the phone line, it is decoded by the recipient’s fax machine and the fax is printed.

One can also receive document from a traditional fax machine through an Internet fax service. The sender needs to dial the fax number which the service has given to the recipient. After the fax machine translates the data, it is transmitted across the phone line. As soon as the data is received by the service, it is again translated into an image file which is sent to the recipient’s e-mail address. The files could be viewed when the recipient opens the email message and the attachment.

In short, the hard copy gets converted in to TIFF or PDF data which is attached to an e-mail in MIME format. The data is sent through TCP/IP straight to Internet Fax on the intranet or Internet, which is made possible by using connection to the office LAN.
Internet fax machines are reliable and are cost efficient, making it better than other methods of faxing.
